Second round of MSBK set for Jan 20-22

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 — The second and final round of the 2020 Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) is now scheduled for Jan 20-22 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

SIC Chief Executive Officer Azlan Shafriman Hanif said this would be great news for the motorsports fraternities after the championship, which was earlier slated for Oct 16-18, was postponed due to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in the Klang Valley to curb COVID-19.

“The riders are looking forward to competing in MSBK, we are blessed to see off the final round as this will be the closing event for motorsports in 2020. Hopefully, 2021 will be a better year for our local motorsports scene,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Two Wheels Motor Racing Sdn Bhd Director Ron Hogg said the race promoter is glad for the chance to re-assemble the grid for the second and final round to take place, honouring commitments to the teams and riders of the MSBK.

“Earlier this year, the unavoidable lockdowns forced us to cut the 2020 MSBK season from the original four rounds to two. When the second round of MCO came into effect, Round 2 had to be shelved,” he said.

The opening round of the 2020 MBSK race was held at the SIC from Sept 25-27.
