Frontliner did not die of Covid-19, exhaustion but underlying illness, says Health DG

PETALING JAYA: The death of a government doctor who died while on duty was not due to Covid-19 or exhaustion but to an underlying illness, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic).

The Health director-general said Dr Ali Noor Hassan had died on Monday (Jan 18) night.

“He was a Health Ministry medical officer who was very much liked by his colleagues, patients and the community.

“It should be noted that the Covid-19 test done on the late Dr Ali Noor returned negative.

“He was admitted to Kuala Lumpur Hospital since early December last year due to another illness and had undergone several treatment sessions, ” Dr Noor Hisham said in a Facebook post Wednesday (Jan 20).

Dr Noor Hisham urged people not to speculate on the passing of Dr Ali Noor and respect his family members.

Dr Noor Hisham also sent his condolences to the family of Dr Ali Noor.

Earlier, a charity group called Skuad Pengurusan Jenazah Malaysia had alleged on its Facebook page that Dr Ali Noor, a member of its group, had died due to fatigue while on duty.

The group also posted a picture of what it said was the last picture of Dr Ali Noor.
