Here are some water-rich foods that can help you stay hydrated

Water is essential for human health, however, people can increase their hydration level and water intake with water-rich foods!

According to Medical News Today, these foods can help keep hydration levels up and provide a variety of nutrients, especially during hot days, when the body loses water and vital electrolytes through sweating.

1. Cucumber

Cucumbers are very good for your health, a source of potassium and also contains phosphorus, magnesium and a small amount of calcium.

Though they do not have the highest of vitamin and mineral content compared to some other fruits and vegetables, they do contain special nutrients called cucurbitacins which some evidence suggests could have an antidiabetic effect. 

2. Tomatoes

Many people consider the tomato to be a vegetable, but it is botanically a fruit that is rich in fiber, vitamins C and K, folate, and potassium.

Tomatoes also contain lycopene which helps to prevent cell damage!

3. Zucchini

4. Watermelon

It’s no surprise here! Watermelons are always associated with summer in television, commercials and movies and it’s because a watermelon’s hydrating benefits are a great fit for hot weather!

This sweet fruit contains mostly water, as well as vitamin C, vitamin A, several B vitamins, potassium, zinc, copper and many other minerals. A cup of diced watermelon also contains just 45.6 calories!

5. Celery

This light green, crunchy vegetable is low in calories, protein and carbohydrates, but packs a punch with fiber. It also provides vitamin A and K, as well as folate and potassium.

6. Pineapple

Water content: 86%

This spiny, tropical fruit is packed with nutrition, including vitamin C. It also contains magnesium, potassium, manganese and B vitamins. 

Hydration is about more than just drinking water. Many foods contain water and additional nutrients that are vital for our health! 

Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables is a good way to supply the body with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, while adding to your daily water intake.
