Annuar Musa issued RM2,000 compound notice for violating SOP

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Annuar Musa has been issued with a RM2,000 compound notice for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP).

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the Federal Territories Minister had committed the violation for visiting former prime minister Tun Abdullah Badawi at his home on Saturday (July 10).

“I confirm that he (Annuar) has been issued with a RM2,000 compound notice.

“It is in violation of the SOP,” he said when contacted on Monday (July 12).

The minister’s office also issued a statement, confirming that Annuar has received the compound notice from the police.

“He has received the notice and will settle it as soon as possible,” the office said.

After tweeting about his visit to the former premier’s residence, Annuar has been criticised by Internet users.

Many took to Twitter to question if any action would be taken against him as visiting is not allowed during the ongoing MCO.

In a tweet that has now been deleted, Annuar said he and his wife had paid a visit to Abdullah and his wife Tun Jeanne Abdullah at their residence in Kuala Lumpur.

“More than two hours together, and eating lunch made by Tun Jeanne. May Allah always bless Pak Lah and his family,” he said in the tweet.

One response came from @rahmahghazali who said in a tweet that this proves that “this minister doesn’t know how to read the standard operating procedure”.

Other Twitter users asked if they could now go visiting, with some saying they hadn’t seen their parents in a long time.
