Emkay Group founder Mustapha Kamal passes away

KUALA LUMPUR: Emkay Group founder Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal Abu Bakar died this morning due to old age.

The corporate figure died at 7.45am at the National Heart Institute (IJN) and would be laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery, Astro Awani reported.

Mustapha founded Emkay in 1983 and was behind Damansara Perdana and several other prominent townships in Selangor.

He was also the co-founder of MK Land Holdings Bhd.

His daughter Felina told Awani that family members were still in IJN to prepare for the next process.

Mustapha began his career as a civil servant with the Selangor state government, going on to serve as a deputy commissioner at the lands and mines department.

He then ventured into the private sector, starting off as the managing director of Shah Alam Properties Sdn Bhd before later forming Emkay Group.
