Saifuddin Nasution: Be mindful of Muslim sensitivities when organising events

PUTRAJAYA, March 22 — Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail today advised organisers to cancel any events that touch on Muslim sensitivities.

Addressing a question on a night club launching ceremony that involved cross-dressing muscular men in lingerie dubbed “Thai Hot Guy”, he said that such an event would only issue a cause for concern and anxiousness among Muslims in the country.

“It is best for such events not to be continued because it could create certain uneasiness. This is because Muslims worldwide will be welcoming Ramadan.

“There must be mutual respect from those living in a multicultural society. They need to be aware of certain sensitivities of respective communities,” he said during a press conference.

He also said that the ministry needed to establish the facts of the event before taking any further action against the organisers.

Several political parties including PAS, Umno and Amanah have lambasted the launching of Privacy Club Tun Razak where the highlight of the launch is a performance by Thai men in lingerie called “Thai Hot Guy”.
