Man who cut himself after wife’s scolding undergoes medical evaluation

PETALING JAYA: Police are still awaiting a full medical report for the man who cut himself after being scolded by his wife for wasting money.

When asked if the suspect suffered from any disorder that compelled him to overspend, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin, when contacted Wednesday (June 7), said that the police were still waiting for the medical report.

“That matter is still under investigation. We are waiting on the full medical report,” he said.

He added that the family was not a rich one and that this was not the first time the man had been scolded by his wife over the matter.

Previously, it was reported that a man had cut himself with a glass shard after being scolded for buying a luxury watch.

Utusan Malaysia, quoting Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, reported that the incident occurred at the man’s house in Damansara on June 5.

The man’s wife had scolded him over the expensive purchase, leading to him breaking a glass jar. He then used the glass shard to cut his hand and neck.

Comm Hussein said that the man had a history of mental health issues and had previously threatened to hurt himself.

The man has since been discharged from the hospital with stitches to the injured areas.
