Historic navy-to-navy talks to boost Malaysia-Indonesia ties

JAKARTA: The first-ever navy-to-navy talks between the Royal Malaysian Navy and Indonesian Navy unfolded in Batam, Riau Islands Province, on Monday (November 20).

The bilateral forum signifies a commitment to fortify diplomatic ties and foster a mutual understanding between the naval forces of the two countries, the Indonesian Navy said in a statement.

Discussions encompassed an array of topics, including collaborative efforts in operations, educational initiatives, personnel interactions, and the scheduling of visits between naval leaders in the upcoming year.

Assistant chief of staff (operations and strategy) Rear Admiral Datuk Ee (Yee) Tai Peng engaged in productive discussions with Indonesia’s commander of the first fleet, Rear Admiral Achmad Wibisono.

This milestone sets a positive precedent for the future, further strengthening the bond between the naval forces of Malaysia and Indonesia.
