KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man who was alleged to have exposed his private parts to a woman in a MRT train carriage on Dec 5.
Sentul district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari, said the 31-year-old suspect was arrested in Bandar Sungai Long Kajang, Selangor at 11.40pm last night.
He said police received a report on the incident from a 22-year-old woman at 9.32pm on Dec 5.
“The woman had reported that a man, believed to be Malaysian, had exposed his privates to her while they were in the train carriage.
“Preliminary investigations show that the incident took place as the woman was en route from the Kepong Baru station to the Metro Prima station in Kuala Lumpur,” he said in a statement.
He said that the suspect, upon being questioned by the police, had admitted to the act.
“He has no criminal record. He will be remanded to facilitate investigations.
“The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code for making any sounds or gestures to insult a person’s modesty.
The case is also being probed under Section 14 of the4 Minor Offences Act for indecency,” he said.
