Health Ministry: Talks with Pfizer over bivalent Covid-19 vaccine still ongoing

KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 — Discussions on Malaysia’s procurement of the bivalent Covid-19 vaccine are currently ongoing between the government and pharmaceutical company Pfizer-BioNTech, the Health Ministry said today.

Its minister, Dr Zaliha Mustafa, said that the government will announce the distribution date once negotiations have concluded.

“(On the) bivalent vaccine, we are still negotiating with Pfizer, and God willing, once finished, we will immediately let you know when it will be released,” she told reporters during a press conference after the Healthy Malaysia National Agenda Cabinet Committee meeting.

In February, it was reported that the government was in talks with Pfizer-BioNTech over the bivalent vaccine procurement and it would take a few weeks to finalise the necessary details.

On January 2, Dr Zaliha was reported as saying that the Covid-19 bivalent vaccines would be supplied to the country “soon”, following the approval of its conditional registration by the Drug Control Authority.
