KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 29): Genting Malaysia Bhd’s (GenM) operating unit Resorts World Genting (RWG) said in its latest notice that it remains open, and that the hotel and casino operator is not operating in the affected area where an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) is being implemented — at the Amber Court and Ria apartments — until Jan 6 to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We refer to the extension of the EMCO at the Amber Court and Ria apartments until Jan 6, and seek to clarify that RWG is not in the affected area and remains open,” it added.
RWG said the first Covid-19 case involving one of its employees was reported on Nov 24, and that all close contacts of this case had completed the required medical treatment, quarantine period and tests prior to resuming their duties.
“RWG’s safety protocols are robust, and provide a safe environment for guests and employees,” it added.
RWG said as part of its efforts to keep the resort safe, it requires all of its employees, including third-party employees and contractors, to undergo a strict screening and testing regime for Covid-19 on a regular basis.
It said its testing protocols include antibody and, more recently, antigen tests for these people on a regular basis.
“The screening and testing programme is in addition to full compliance with the SOPs (standard operating procedures) required by the government,” RWG added.
On Bursa Malaysia today, GenM’s share price had fallen one sen or 0.37% to RM2.70 as at 10.49am, giving the stock a market capitalisation of about RM15.26 billion.
GenM’s number of issued shares stood at 5.65 billion units, according to the company’s latest quarterly financial report.
