This Skechers x ‘Reality To Idea’ transparent sneakers brings 2D pop-art sketches to life

In an age of the high-fashion “dad sneakers”, Skechers has always been at the forefront. Combining the brand’s crazed chunky appearance and comfiness with Los Angeles-based visual artist Joshua Vides’ 2D pop-art, the brand gives us a sneaker that we can rock anytime for any mood.

Launched in March both online and in stores, the Skechers X Reality To Idea collection features a range of footwear, apparel and accessories for both men and women in a monochromatic colour palette including a unique transparent panelled design for the sneakers.

The inspiration behind the collection comes from Joshua’s art style which focuses on creating an alternate reality of making real-life objects appear as monochromatic drawings.

This gives the visual illusion of transforming 3D shapes into 2D works of art. That’s why the collection features a lot of sketch lines and a black-and-white design.

The transparent panel and neutral colours make it easy for anyone to mix and match their fit with any fun socks peeking through. You can even go safe and pair a contrasting combination such as the black shoes with white socks for an edgy look.

The chunky-heeled sneaker includes Skechers’ signature Air Cooled Memory Foam insole for cushioned comfort too. Take a closer look:

The Skechers X Reality To Idea Collection is available now at selected Skechers concept stores including at 1 Utama, Suria KLCC, Sunway Pyramid, Pavilion KL, The Intermark Mall, and via Skechers on Lazada and Skechers on Shopee
