IJM Corp launches Covid-19 vaccination campaign for employees, families and supply chain

KUALA LUMPUR: As Malaysia’s Covid-19 vaccination drive continues to gain momentum, IJM Corporation Bhd has launched a programme recently to help its employees, and their immediate family members and the construction supply chain get vaccinated against the virus.

More than one thousand vaccine recipients received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at IJM Corp’s Mobile Vaccination Programme.

The programme was held at the DUKE R&R Tol Segambut-RFID Fitment Centre, Lebuhraya Duke, Segambut, which has been converted into a vaccination centre under the Federal Territories Ministry’s MYMedic@Wilayah Vaccine Mobile Truck initiative.

Held over two days, IJM Corp organised the vaccination drive in collaboration with JKG Land Bhd and #OpsHarapan, a relief aid organisation, run by volunteers.

Through this initiative, IJM Corp was also able to also sponsor 200 vaccination slots for the community, on top of sponsoring the cost of vaccinations for employees across its business divisions and its construction supply chain.

The initiative is part of the company’s efforts to support the national vaccination initiative and its commitment to protecting its workforce’s health, safety, and well-being.

IJM Corp chief executive officer and managing director Liew Hau Seng said the company is committed to doing the right thing for its employees, and vaccination is the best way to combat the pandemic.

“The faster we achieve high vaccination rates, the sooner our communities and economies can start to recover.

“As a company with diversified businesses, vaccination protection is crucial for our employees and supply chain.

“We recognise the challenges faced by our workforce during the pandemic, and vaccine enrolment is a viable step to prepare us for the reopening of all our operations when permitted,” he said in a statement.

Liew is encouraged by the positive response to this programme and thanked IJM Corp volunteers who showed up to help out and to ensure the operations run smoothly at the vaccination centre.

From the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, IJM Corp has consistently invested in employee safety and well-being – from enhancing safety measures across its operations to offer vaccination medical leave for employees to recover from symptoms.
