KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has delivered 1,521 units of Mitsubishi Triton with the highest market share of 34 per cent within the pick-up segment in September.
The distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia said this was historical high sales for the Triton.
The Triton sales performance increased 5.1 per cent year-on-year (YoY) within April and September 2021, while the overall company sales achieved positive growth with a total of 6,907 vehicles sold.
This resulted in MMM’s market share increasing from 1.7 per cent (April-September 2020) to 3.9 per cent (April-September 2021) for the total industry volume.
Meanwhile, MMM said the Xpander was Malaysia’s best-selling non-national multi purpose vehicle with close to 13,000 bookings since its launch in November 2020 to date.
The company has delivered 5,756 units to new owners.
Chief executive officer Tomoyuki Shinnishi said the team at the company was working with its best efforts to improve production and delivery timing, and recover from backlog orders fulfilment for the Xpander and Triton.
This came after a few months of challenging market situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.
“As the nation moves towards the endemic era and with the resumption of the automotive supply chain and showrooms opening, we are confident for optimistic sales numbers over the second half of our financial year,” Shinnishi said in a statement today.
He said MMM was continuously looking to improve and introduce new digital services.
“Soon we will be announcing a Home Delivery Service for customers who have purchased a Mitsubishi to have their brand new car delivered to their doorstep.
“This is to ease customer’s convenience in shopping online. We are also working very closely with our dealerships to ensure full standard operating procedures are in compliance and only fully vaccinated staff are allowed to be on duty and serve customers.”
MMM said it remained as the top three non-national automotive brands in Malaysia.
The company is fulfilling the accumulated backlog orders with the recent reopening of automotive industry since the lockdown from June this year.
