KUALA LUMPUR: Hospitalisation rate in four states breached the 80 per cent mark, which includes both Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients.

According to the CovidNow website, hospital bed utilisation in Terengganu is the highest at 91.5 per cent followed by Kelantan at 86.1 per cent.

Hospital bed utilisation in Melaka is 82.8 per cent while Kedah is 81 per cent.

The other states are between 48.4 and 76.2 per cent with the lowest bed utilisation rate in Putrajaya.

Hospital bed utilisation at the national level is at 68.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, intensive care units (ICU) in Klang Valley have breached the 80 per cent utilisation rate.

Checks on the website showed the highest ICU utilisation is in Selangor at 82.8 per cent, Putrajaya at 80 per cent while Kuala Lumpur was at 79.6 per cent.

The other states are between 33.3 per cent and 74.1 per cent with Labuan having the lowest ICU occupancy.

In a tweet earlier today, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the ministry has finalised a Heightened Alert System (HAS) which will kick in when indicators breach certain thresholds.

“Face masks worn properly, physical distancing where possible, avoid crowds (especially for older folks), #TRIIS, take a booster jab when offered,” he said.

Malaysia reported 5,413 fresh Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the overall total to 2,556,865.
