Floods in Kelantan continue to worsen

KOTA BARU: Floods in the state continue to worsen with more relief centres being opened to accommodate victims.

As of 9.30am, a total 70 relief centres have been opened housing 8,496 evacuees.

According to the Infobanjir flood portal, the victims are from 2,762 families, including 32 persons with disability.

Two rivers; Golok river in Kampung Jenob and Kelantan rivers in Kusial, Kampung Temangan and Sultan’s Pier, remained above their danger marks as of 9.30am.

Kelantan rivers in Kusial was measured at 16.19m, in Kampung Temangan at 21.90m while Sultan’s Pier was recorded at 4.27m.

Rantau Panjang has the most relief centres with 19 and 4,617 victims.

Although the number of evacuees had increased compared to yesterday, Kelantan recorded less rain since early today.

Floods in Kelantan which started on Friday so far claimed two lives – a 70-year-old man and a 13-year-old student.
