Flood victims in Selangor continue to rise

SHAH ALAM: The number of flood victims in Selangor continued to rise, with 1,122 evacuees from 263 families placed at nine temporary evacuation centres (PPS) as of 8am today.

The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), in a Facebook post today said the number had increased, compared to 746 people from 167 families last night.

“There are 524 flood victims in Gombak from 119 families at two PPS, namely the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) Kampung Melayu Sri Kundang hall and the Sri Kundang public hall.

“While in Petaling, 222 victims from 48 families are at Kenanga hall, Seksyen 28.

“This is followed by the Camelia Putra Heights hall with 138 victims from 34 families, Sekolah Kebangsaan Puchong Indah (164 victims from 44 families), and Masjid Nurulhuda (26 victims from six families).

“The authorities are still counting the total number of flood victims evacuated to PPS Masjid Putra Heights, while the PPS opened at Sekolah Kebangsaan Putra Heights 2 is on standby,” said the agency today.

Nadma said, in Hulu Langat, 48 victims from 15 families are currently housed at PPS Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Serai.

Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the disaster management agency would continue to monitor the situation and assist in the evacuation process.
