KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been instructed to crackdown on Coldplay ticket resale advertisements on social media platforms.

Communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil said this today.

Fahmi also advised fans of the British rock band to get Coldplay concert tickets from legitimate sources.

“Avoid falling victim to ticket scams,” Bernama reported him as saying.

Earlier on Twitter, Fahmi said he planned to discuss the matter with Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.

One user was selling four CAT 3 standing tickets (retail price is RM658 per ticket) for RM1,000 per ticket.

He stressed that concert ticket prices were regulated by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.

Coldplay fans have expressed their frustrations on Twitter after facing difficulties obtaining tickets for the band’s concert at Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Nov 22.

Checks on social media revealed that some unscrupulous individuals are purchasing more tickets than the needed amount only to resell them at significantly higher prices.

One user was selling four CAT 3 standing tickets (retail price is RM658 per ticket) for RM1,000 per ticket.

Another user was selling two “Ultimate Experience” tickets (retail price is at RM3,088 per ticket) for RM8,000 which is about a 50 per cent increase of the original price.
