KUALA LUMPUR: The former president and group chief executive officer of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin has been appointed chairman of Gas Malaysia effective Thursday, July 1.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Gas Malaysia said his appointment followed the resignation by Datuk Hasni Harun, effective Wednesday.
The company said Hasni’s resignation was to pursue other commitments.
Wan Zulkiflee, 61, is the non-executive group chairman of Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd since July 1, 2020.
Before joining Malaysia Airlines Bhd, he served as the president and group CEO of Petronas from April 2015 until June 2020.
He began his career in Petronas in 1983 as a process engineer involved in the development of several gas processing plants. In the ensuing years, Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee held various positions within the Petronas group, among which was the managing director and CEO of Petronas Gas from 2003 to 2007.
