PETALING JAYA: The Dewan Rakyat will reconvene on July 26, the Prime Minister’s Office said on Monday (July 5).

The special sitting will last for five days between July 26 and Aug 2 while Dewan Negara will sit for three days beginning Aug 3 to Aug 5.

The special meeting will be held centre around the National Recovery Plan and amendments to the law to allow a hybrid Parliament meeting to be held.

PMO also noted that the meeting would also adhere to the requirement under Article 150(3) of the Federal Constitution for the Emergency Proclamation for it to be ‘laid before both Houses of Parliament’.

On Thursday (July 1), the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had called for the Parliament to reconvene before Aug 1.

Parliament meeting was suspended following the Emergency Declaration by the King on Jan 12 in light of the surge of Covid-19 cases.
