PM Muhyiddin: Govt expected to table RMK-12 in Sept, Budget 2020 in Oct

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s next five-year socio-economic development blueprint under the 12th Malaysia Plan is expected to be tabled in Parliament on Sept 20, announces Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Prime Minister also said that Budget 2022 would be tabled on Oct 29, adding that the continuity of the National Recovery Plan and economic recovery measures would be fully detailed in the RMK-12 and the Budget 2022.

“InsyaAllah (God-willing), RMK-12 is expected to be tabled in the Dewan on Sept 20, while the Budget 2022 will be announced on Oct 29,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (July 26).

He said that Budget 2022 would be focused on three main agendas, pertaining economic recovery, resilience and reform.

“In this regard, special focus will be given to efforts to recover all the affected sectors, including tourism, improving capacity of public health system, as well as the scope of social protection, and boost digital economy in an effort to strengthen the country’s competitiveness to face a new global norm,” he said.

“God-willing, the government via the Finance Ministry will, for the first time, publish a pre-budget statement including the rakyat’s consultation documents regarding policy focus in Aug in line with the efforts to improve the process of transparency and consultation of the rakyat in preparing this year’s Budget,” he said.
