KUALA LUMPUR: The first payment of i-Citra is expected to be credited to the bank accounts of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributors from next week, says Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

He said the initiative was expected to benefit a total of four million EPF members.

“God willing, the first payment will be credited to the bank account of members beginning next Tuesday (Aug 3),” he said in his ministerial briefing in the Dewan Rakyat today (July 29).

EPF members below age 55 may apply for i-Citra via icitra.kwsp.gov.my.

The i-Citra withdrawal was introduced following the announcement of Pakej Perlindungan Rakyat dan Pemulihan Ekonomi (Pemulih) by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on June 28 as a temporary relief measure to help EPF members tide themselves over during the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the bank loan moratorium, he said applications had already been open since early this month.

“I would like to take this chance to urge those facing any problems in applying for the moratorium loans to contact the BNM-telelink or get advice from the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) to manage their financial standing.

“EPF also has opened an i-Citra hotline to allow members who have further queries,” he added.
