KUALA LUMPUR: The first meeting of the Fourth Session of the 14th Parliamentary sitting will convene as scheduled for 15 days beginning Sept 6.
This is despite reports, which quoted sources, that the government had been urged to convene the Parliamentary sitting earlier than scheduled following the latest development in the country’s political landscape.
Kampar member of Parliament Thomas Su, via his Twitter account today, shared a letter issued by the Dewan Rakyat secretary’s office on the upcoming Parliamentary sitting.
According to the letter dated Aug 6, the first meeting for the fourth term of the 14th Parliament will sit from Sept 6 until Sept 30.
Checks on the Parliament website revealed that other businesses listed for the sitting include debates on the motion of thanks on the Royal Address as well as the tabling of the 12th Malaysia Plan.
During a special address to the nation on Aug 4, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had said that he will put the legitimacy of his position to the test when the Dewan Rakyat convenes in September.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Pagoh member of Parliament, said he had informed the King that a motion of confidence vote would be tabled in Parliament to determine his position.
