It has been a very long time since many of us have even gotten close to an airport, let alone travelling through one. However, we know that in terms of facilities and comfort, Changi airport is deserving of the top spot.
Be it as it may, there is one category in where KLIA is superior towards Changi airport and that is reflected in the World Airport Awards by Skytrax. That category of the award is World’s Best Airport Immigration 2021 where airports worldwide were ranked based “of the efficiency, speed and courtesy of immigration staff service (including e-gate service standards), and in 2021, that includes the Covid-19 protection measures applied to the immigration area”.
Coming in at first place for this category is Tokyo’s Narita Airport, followed by the Hong Kong Airport. In third place is the Taoyuan airport in Taiwan. KLIA is in fourth place while Changi airport is in fifth.
As for the biggest award for Best Airport In The World 2021, Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar takes first place with second place going to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and third place going to Singapore’s Changi Airport. In the previous year, Changi Airport was placed in the first place. KLIA is ranked 55th on this list.
Although we were not in the Top 10 Best Airports, 55th isn’t all too shabby. There is definitely room for improvement and sometimes, it’s the little wins that motivate us even more!
