Mah: 62.5% of school students have received a Covid-19 vaccine dose

AMPANG: A total of 62.5% school students have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccines as of Sunday (Oct 3), says Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon

The country has 2,535,165 students aged 12 to 17, out of which 1,584,779 (62.5%) have received their first dose while 188,003 (7.4%) have completed both doses of Covid-19 vaccines, the Deputy Education Minister added.

“However, Selangor’s achievement for student vaccination is relatively low compared to other states, where only 142,813 (30.8%) have received their first dose while 15, 254 (3.3%) received both doses.

Speaking after visiting SMK Taman Tasik, Ampang on Monday (Oct 4), Mah said that as a whole, 55.7% of all adolescents have received at least one dose.

On a separate note, he said that face-to-face teaching and learning will continue even if only one student in a class shows up.

Mah added that students who choose to study from home will be given teaching and learning modules to ensure their learning continues and said that their parents must come to school to pick up the modules from the teachers.
