21,447 booster shots administered

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry projects 80 per cent of the country’s population, including adolescents will be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in 49 days, by early December this year.

The ministry’s CovidNow portal reported that as of 11.59pm yesterday, 93.8 per cent of adults in the country and 25.6 per cent of adolescents had been fully inoculated against Covid-19.

This brings the total vaccinated population rate to 69.7 per cent involving 22,767,241 people.

The portal also stated that 97.1 per cent of the adult population and 78.2 per cent of adolescents in the country have been administered with at least one dose of the vaccine.

This brings the total number of single dose vaccine recipients to 77.2 per cent involving 2,441,276 people.

According to the portal’s Covid-19 vaccine tracker, a total 21,447 doses of vaccines have been administered as booster doses to date.

Almost half of the total doses of Covid-19 vaccines administered as booster doses or 10,418 were administered to those in Sarawak.

The portal also stated that a total of 47,838,886 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered since the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP) started 236 days ago.
