PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional was slapped with a RM10,000 compound notice for organising a mass gathering at the World Trade Centre KL that violated Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP).

The Health Ministry posted a photo of the compound notice on Facebook on Thursday (Oct 28), which showed the notice being addressed to Barisan’s executive secretary for violating the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

Barisan had allegedly breached SOP during the launch of its Melaka election machinery, which saw a large number of its members present in the building, including the coalition’s top leadership.

The gathering, which was live-streamed on social media, also comes several hours after the youth-led party Muda was slapped with an RM4,000 compound notice over holding a press conference involving five of its members in Melaka.
