KUALA LUMPUR: A 39-year-old man died and another was seriously injured after falling off a Ferris Wheel ride at a funfair in Cheras here on Thursday.
Kajang district police chief Superintendent Mohd Nasir Drahman said police received a report from a worker at the funfair located near a shopping mall in Cheras at 12.05am on Thursday.
The report had claimed that two local men fell off the Ferris Wheel at the funfair.
“A witness informed that two men fell from the Ferris Wheel. One of them was a 39-year-old. A medical personnel who arrived at the scene later confirmed that the man had died.
“Another victim in his 30s was injured,” he said in a statement as reported by Harian Metro.
Nasir said the body was sent to the Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital in Cheras for post-mortem, while the injured victim was sent to the Kajang Hospital for treatment.
He said based on investigation at the location, there were no criminal elements and the case has so far been classified as sudden death.
“However, police are continuing investigations to ascertain the cause of the incident. We are determining if there had been any element of negligence on the part of the funfair’s owner, or on the part of the victim,” he said.
