Soldier who sexually harassed cashier at vape outlet charged

KUALA LUMPUR: A soldier who allegedly sexually harassed a cashier at a vape shop in Ampang was hauled to court to face the music today.

Zynetlle Von Lim, 27, however, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him before magistrate Nur Maizan Rahim.

The father of one was accused of using criminal force to outrage the modesty of an 18-year-old woman by holding the victim’s hand and licking her index finger.

The offence was allegedly committed at a premise in Taman Keramat at 1.28pm on Oct 5.

He was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 10 years or a fine, or whipping, upon conviction.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Ameera Sam Kamaruddin asked the court to impose RM10,000 bail against the accused.

However, lawyer Adi Zulkarnain Zulkafli pleaded for minimum bail stating that the accused is a sole breadwinner in his family.

The court set RM4,000 bail with one surety and fixed Jan 12, 2022 for mention.

On Oct 8, Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak said investigations found that the suspect was working at the Batu Kentonmen Camp, here, apart from having served with the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) for seven years.

It was reported that a man had allegedly sexually harassed a cashier at a vape shop in Taman Keramat on Oct 5.

The incident was caught on camera and a man could be seen grabbing the cashier’s hand as she was handing him a vape device.

The victim was seen to be visibly uncomfortable and tried to stop the man.

However, the man leaned in, while licking her fingers and blowing smoke towards her.
