The Malaysian Football League (MFL) and Terengganu FC were both fined RM10,000 each by the Terengganu Health Department for violation of Covid-19 SOP.

The violation happened during the Terengganu FC-Johor Darul Ta’zim Malaysia Cup semi-final first leg at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on Monday.

Hosts Terengganu FC had allowed 20,000 spectators (42.6 per cent) of the total capacity of 47,500 into the stadium, said the Terengganu Health Department in a statement.

Fully vaccinated spectators had followed entry procedures such as QR Code, MySejahtera, temperature check and hand sanitizer.

“However, the organisers had failed to follow general protocol in fans management (physical distancing and wearing masks) throughout the game. Therefore, two compounds have been issued, one to Terengganu Football Club Sdn Bhd (hosts) at RM10,000 and another to the MFL (organisers) at RM10,000 for violating rule 16 P.U (A) 293/2021 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act.” the statement said.

Terengganu FC and the MFL received further warnings to follow the SOP in future games.

Viral videos of Terengganu fans jumping over the fence at the stadium have surfaced after Monday’s game.
