IPOH: Three men including a father and son, were charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with murdering a 29-year-old man following a heated argument at the Ashby Road Flat, Sungai Senam here last week.
The accused, Ismail Rizwan Ramli, 34; Mohd Fuzi Ab Manaf 47; and Ismail’s father, Ramli Lot, 60; nodded in understanding when the charge was jointly read before magistrate, Nor Azrin Liyana Mohamad Darus.
No plea was recorded from the accused as the case was under the purview of the High Court.
According to the charge sheet, they were accused of committing murder which resulted in the death of Muhammad Noor Faqih Mohamed Ariffin.
The offence was committed at a morning market in Jalan Hospital Flat, Ipoh between 9.50am and 11.05am on Nov 25.
They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor, Sufi Aiman Azmi prosecuted while all the accused were represented by lawyer, Mohd Hakim Hamran.
Mohd Hakim said Ramli had been diagnosed with depression and emotional problems and had undergone surgery to remove tumour in his head in 2013.
He added that Ramli has an appointment to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan procedure at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital on Dec 27.
Sufi Aiman has requested the court to have Ramli referred to the Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta (HBUK) for mental assessment.
Nor Azrin Liyana then instructed Ramli to have his mental health evaluation at the HBUK and set January 3 for mention.
