KUALA LUMPUR: The bodies of seven more drowning victims were found yesterday, raising the death toll to nine in flood-stricken Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam.
Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Baharudin Mat Taib said the nine deaths recorded involved six men and three women.
“Two of the three female victims were Chinese while another has yet to be identified.
“As for the male victims, there were two locals, a Chinese and Indian respectively, while another was an Indian national.
“The identities of three others are still unconfirmed,” he said in a statement at midnight.
The first two bodies, both local men, were discovered on Dec 19 at 4.15pm and 8.03pm at the traffic light of Kemuning Utama in Section 33 and near Alam Idaman in Section 22, he said.
The subsequent seven bodies were found between midnight and 7.40pm on Dec 20 at several locations, said Baharudin.

-5.17am – a body of an unidentified woman was found at a housing area in Persiaran Budiman
-8am – a body of an unidentified man was found at the Section 25 disaster operations centre
-9.39am – a body of an unidentified man was found in a drain underneath Elite Highway near MSU in Section 13
-4pm – the bodies of two Chinese women were found in a Section 25 terrace house
-7.40pm – the body of an Indian man was found at the Section 25 disaster operations centre
Baharudin advised people to look out for themselves and their families and always be prepared for any eventualities due to flooding.
“We also need the cooperation of the people to channel flood related information or the discovery of drowning victims to us.
“The public can call the Shah Alam district headquarters operations room at 03-5520 2000 or 03-5520 2022,” he added.
