Goh Jin Wei files appeal with BAM over two-year suspension

PETALING JAYA: Former national No. 1 women’s singles shuttler Goh Jin Wei is keeping her fingers crossed after filing an appeal to Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) concerning her two-year suspension.

“I sent my appeal letter this morning. I’m ready to sit down and discuss this matter further (with BAM) and I hope to get this decision revoked,” she said.

The 21-year-old along with world No. 7 Lee Zii Jia had been slapped with a two-year exclusion from all sanctioned tournaments in a decision announced by BAM at a press conference last Friday.

However, there seems to be a glimmer of hope for Jin Wei after Zii Jia managed to overturn the verdict following an appeal made on Monday (Jan 24).

It is not known what conditions have been set by BAM for Zii Jia’s release.
