KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 612 athletes have been registered by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) for the Hanoi SEA Games in Vietnam, which is scheduled to take place from May 12-23.
OCM, in a statement yesterday, said 226 athletes would be placed under Category A (costs fully borne) and 386 under Category B (costs to be refunded if a medal is won).
OCM added that they also registered 206 officials before the closing date yesterday.
“The number of male athletes is 377 (62%) and for women it’s 235 (38%).”
OCM also confirmed that the contingent would participate in 37 of the 40 sports to be contested in Vietnam.
The three sports Malaysia will not participate in are handball, vovinam and wrestling. — Bernama
