KUALA LUMPUR: The government has approved a RM50 million allocation to alleviate traffic congestion in the Klang Valley, including widening bus lanes and purchasing 100 transit vans.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this was among the decisions made by the Cabinet Committee on Road Safety and Congestion today.
Zahid, who chaired the meeting, said congestion on several roads in the country had reached critical levels, including Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Kuching and Jalan Sungai Besi in the city.
This is why the committee made several short-term and long-term decisions to reduce congestion at hotspots.
